The College English Test Band 6, CET for short, is a nation-wide English test. It is organized by the Division of Higher education of the Minister of Education.

Test Time: The College English Test Band 6 is held twice a year, in June and December respectively.

Question Type: The whole page is divided into subjective and objective parts, including selecting, multiple choice, error correction, translation and writing.

Test Content: The Test is composed of five parts: Part I:Listening Comprehension; Part II: Reading Comprehension; Part Ⅲ：Vocabulary and Structure; Part Ⅳ ：Error Correction; Part Ⅴ：Writing.

Listening comprehension weights 35% in all of the page; among which listening to conversations weights 15%,including listening comprehension on conversations and long conversation; listening to short essay weights 20%,including comprehension on essay and compound dictation

Reading comprehension weights 35%, 25% of which is reading in depth  , 10% skimming and scanning. Reading in depth consists of:　ａ）reading comprehension on essay with selective types; b) Banked Cloze or short answer questions. The skimming & scanning part measures the ability to do skimming reading and point checking.

The Cloze and correction part weights 10%; the cloze part adopts the model of multiple choices while the error-correction part is to recognize errors and correct them.

The writing and translation part weights 20%; among which the writing weights 15%, and translation 5%. The writing styles include thesis, expository writing, and practical writing. The translation part is to test the translating ability from Chinese into English in terms of sentences, phrases and normal expressions.

Duration: 2 hours and 20 minutes, 140 minutes in total.

Time of registration: The registration for the test takes in March and September each year. Participants shall sign up at appointed place and scheduled time.Signing channel will be closed after the deadline.

The Application Procedures

（一）The Eligibility for Registration  
The main applicants for this Test are those bachelor students in the universities who have already finished the College English Level 6

The same level of diploma students or graduates may also apply for the test as long as they get permission from the schools.

Equivalent level of students from night schools and correspondence universities may permitted to take the test if this is allowed by their Schools.

who have got CET-6 Certificates are not allowed to test again.But those people who failed CET-6 can apply to take the next exam．

Bachelor degree holders graduated since 1987 need to be examed now are also qualified for applying  

Students from universities which there are testing stations available shall not be allowed to take the test in other universities. Test results will be in vain once they are found to do so.

PS：Those from the society are allowed to sign up if they get at least diplomas. Those without passing CET-4 shall not be allowed to sign up for CET-6 test.

One photo of one inch and without hat shall be submitted upon their registration. Only those who show their ID and certificates issued by the testing station can get into the examination rooms.
